Who we are. Tartan Networks is a product of TechSolve LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy covers this website and the Tartan Mobile app.
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, trackers or ads. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
Tartan Mobile connects your phone to your organization's private network.
Only to your organization's own control plane:
The lighthouses and relays of your organization's network see the address your phone connects from, and your phone's local network addresses (for example its Wi-Fi address on your home network), which it reports so that devices on the same network can connect to each other directly. Other devices in your organization can learn those addresses from the lighthouse.
We run that control plane only if your organization uses Tartan's hosted service. Then we process this data as your organization's service provider, on its instructions.
Your browsing, the contents of your DNS lookups (the app answers and forwards them and keeps no record of the names), your location, your contacts or your files. There are no analytics, no crash reporters and no ads. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
To make your organization's names work, the app answers lookups for them on the phone and forwards every other lookup to the DNS servers of the Wi-Fi or mobile network you're on. If that network uses Private DNS, those forwarded lookups go to its servers without encryption. We plan to encrypt them in a later version.
The app's keys are created and kept on your phone, in Android's hardware-backed keystore where your phone has one. Nothing is backed up to the cloud or copied to a new phone: a new phone joins again.
Leave the network in the app (Networks → your organization → Leave this network), or ask your organization's admin to remove the device. Uninstalling the app deletes everything on the phone; your organization's control plane marks the device inactive after 60 days.
